“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV)”
We start our Advent readings with a very popular and well known verse of scripture, John 3:16. As we look forward to the “coming” (Advent in Latin literally means coming) of Jesus, we start with the message of love. God loved you and I so very much that He sent His Son, His very best, to show us that love. As we anticipate the joy of this season, let us start by focusing on God’s love. It was love that made that first Christmas possible. It is a love meant to set us truly free!
Prayer: Thank you Father for sending Jesus. What a precious gift you have given us. As we journey with you this Christmas Season help us afresh and anew to discover your love. We see love everywhere in the Christmas story but ultimately we see your love for us in the Cross. We look forward to meeting with you each day and sharing in that love. Bless our time over the following days and encourage us as we seek to discover the wonderful story once again of Jesus birth. Help us to see once again the true, “Reason for the Season.” In Jesus' name – Amen
