Advent: Day 2

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” John 1:5 (NIV)

Christmas is a time of lights on houses, store windows, Christmas trees and so much more. They decorate our homes, churches and communities and give us a real sense of the festive season. Jesus came into the world to give us light, to show the way to God and each other and to shine in a world that needs His love. He brings a message that will never be snuffed out. His word gives us daily light and shines to illuminate our way. Thank you Jesus for coming and bringing God’s fullest light into our world that first Christmas.

Prayer: Thank you for being our light – for above all lighting the way to God. Help us to pay attention to how you light up this season through the wonderful stories and prophecies that surround your birth. As we stop to admire the lights around us this Christmas season may we be reminded of the greatest light this world has ever needed – the light of your saving grace and love. Please light our way this Christmas season. May we help point others to your light and the true reason you came. In Jesus' name – Amen
